Chennai: Water hyacinth has started cropping up on Rettai Eri at Kolathur.
Local residents state that the authorities who are responsible for maintaining the lake must take immediate action to clear the overgrowth.
“This issue happens at all waterbodies every year. It is not something new. What is not acceptable is that authorities know that they need to clear the overgrowth on a timely basis and yet do not do it. There might be reasons for not doing that, one might be lack of funds. But I hope that they clear it soon,” said Poorani, a resident of the neighbourhood.
