Chennai: The birth anniversary of former President APJ Abdul Kalam was celebrated differently by a few youngsters of West Mambalam as they launched a rent-free freezer box for the use of local people.
A press release said the group, called ‘Uthamar Abdul Kalam Podhu Nala Mandram’, will function at Brindavan Street.
“We formed the association to render service to the needy as envisaged by our beloved leader Abdul Kalam. As a first initiative, we launched the freezer box facility,” said association president B Kaarmegam.
“With the support of and contribution by our members and a few philanthropists, we made this possible. Those who are in need of the facility can contact us and there will be no charges,” he said.
