He said this during the launch of the brand’s new mu-X SUV and inauguration of the brand’s new Kun Isuzu showroom in its premises in Anna Salai, Chennai, on Tuesday.
“We are in the midst of creating a new lifestyle in India with our globally proven vehicles. India-made range of D-MAX and mu-X SUVs will strengthen and add fillip to our export operations while also playing an important role in contributing to the future growth of our brand,” he added.
Former South African cricketer, Jonty Rhodes, who is the lifestyle ambassador of Isuzu in India, said, “I am glad to be a part of Isuzuās journey. Since my association with the brand in August, I have had the opportunity to travel in Isuzu vehicles across the country. Built on the versatile D-MAX pick-up platform, the SUVs have more to offer to travel enthusiasts like me and to many families. They certainly bring the best of both worlds together. They have a huge potential to change the dynamics of the utility vehicle market in India.”

A press note said the new mu-X is built at Isuzuās state-of-the-art manufacturing plant at Sri City in Andhra Pradesh. The SUV comes with premium interior upholstery and fine quilted leather seats, according to its maker.
The vehicle also has safety features including six-airbags and Hill Descent Control (HDC). It’s available for Rs 26,23,489 for the 4×2 variant and Rs 28,19,367 for the 4×4 variant (all prices ex-showroom, Chennai).
The drive train comprises of a 3.0 litre Isuzu 4JJ1 diesel engine which delivers a maximum power output of 130 kW (177 PS). It provides a maximum torque of 380 Nm. The new mu-X has a ground clearance of 230 mm and according to Isuzu, class-leading approach and departure angles.
Mitsubishi Corporation (Japan), president Kazushi Okawa, Isuzu India MD Naohiro Yamaguchi, deputy MD Ken Takashuma, PR Capt J Shankar Srinivas and Kun Isuzu MD Venkatesh were among others present during the event.
