With a blend of Portuguese, Mexican, Spanish and Italian cuisines, Barcelos at the food court of Express Avenue, Royapettah offers an ensemble variety of sustenance in a chic ambience.

The first served veg lemon coriander soup was off from its conventional taste with a modish flavour and was a good start for a long dinner that was about to happen.

The soup was garnished with rosemary that gave it a herbal glance. The texture of the soup made it look delicious as well.

Apparently, we are offered with assorted veg and non-veg appetizers. Though the quantity was less for two, the veg starters were possessing a good savour.

When it comes to taste, the veg starters were a cut above the non-veg platter. Still, the variants among non-veg were high in number than the veg. Especially, the fish finger was more than just crisp and was well fried.

Of all, our favourites were the potato wedges and cheese poppers. The wedges were made with unpeeled potatoes which made it retain a better crispy texture over the layer. It added more substance to its savour when devoured with sour cream dip.

For the main course, we chose to have a veg quesadilla and a handcrafted gourmet burger with a black bun. Surprisingly, the sweetness of the black bun and the freshly cooked patty made an effective concoction. This blend almost induced us to come back again.

While the quesadilla was a bit unbaked inside. Howbeit, the stuffing which was an amalgamation of tortilla and mozzarella gave a tangy relish when consumed.

We ended the dinner with a classic mint flavoured virgin mojito. Despite being named ‘classic’, the taste was a little contemporary with a peck of warm spice mixture. It made us go for a repeat order.
