Chennai: Special booking counters to reserve tickets in government buses for Deepavali travel are open from today at Koyambedu mofussil bus terminus.
The public can reserve tickets for onward and return journey also from the Koyambedu special counters.
The government will be running special buses for Deepavali, which falls 6 November, from 3 November to help people reach their native places in time for the celebrations.
On 5 November, it will run 11,367 special buses from Chennai and 9,200 buses from other places to meet the Deepavali rush.
As far as Chennai is concerned, the specials will be operated from Koyambedu, K K Nagar, Poonamallee, Madhavaram and Tambaram. This is to ensure that there is no traffic jam in one particular area of the city due to the movement of long-distance buses.
