Chennai:  Former Tamilnadu governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao, in his letter to former president Pranab Mukerjee, dated 6 October 2016, said former chief minister J Jayalalithaa was under sedation when he visited the hospital to look her up.

Letters written by Vidyasagar Rao during Jayalalithaa’s hospitalaisation and after her demise were submitted to the Arumughaswamy commission that is probing her death.

The letters were submitted after the commission recently summoned Vidyasagar Rao.

In the letter, Vidyasagar Rao has said, “There was wide speculation about the health condition of Jayalalithaa. The party cadres who thronged the hospital gates became restless. Wild rumours started flowing, especially through social media.”

He further said considering the situation, he came to Chennai 1 October and visited Apollo Hospitals.

She was under sedation at that time,” he mentioned in his letter.
