Chennai: A man was arrested for running over a woman and a seven-year-old girl in Konnur High Road Ayanavaram in a speeding car on 30 October.
According to police sources, Saran (21), a resident of Ayanavaram, pursuing his Engineering at a private college in Otteri was arrested today.
On 30 October morning, he was driving his four-wheeler on the Konnur High Road to go to the gym. He tried over-taking a bus when he lost balance of the vehicle and rammed against Vijayalakshmi (22) and her niece Bindhu (7) who were walking on the road.
However, Saran escaped without injuries from the mishap. However, passersby stopped his vehicle, rounded up and assaulted him.
Succumbing to the injuries, Bindhu passed away last night at Government Kilpauk hospital while Vijayalakshmi died this morning.
This morning police arrested Saran from a private hospital in Thirumangalam where he was admitted with minor injuries.
