Chennai: A petition has been filed with Madras High Court today alleging that ticket prices are hiked for forthcoming Deepavali release of Vijay starrer Sarkar.

One Devarajan alleged in his petition that the tickets are priced anywhere between Rs 750 and Rs 1,000 flouting government norms. Hence he sought directions from the court in this regard. The court however urged the petitioner to come up with evidence and said it cannot take up oral statements.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, the Madurai bench of the Madras High Court directed the Madurai District Collector to take stringent action against theatre complexes and cinema halls that sell tickets at higher rates for actor Vijay-starrer Sarkar.

A division bench of Justice T Raja and Justice Krishnan Ramasamy issued the directions based on a petition filed by P Mahendra Pandi of Madurai, a functionary of TTV Dhinakaran’s AMMK.

BHAGYARAJ QUITS

Actor-director K Bhagyaraj today resigned as Tamil Film Writers Association president after Sarkar fiasco. He assumed charge as head of the association just six months ago.

Bhagyaraj said both Sengol and Sarkar stories were similar after Varun Rajendran filed a complaint with the association claiming that the story of Sarkar was lifted from his work Sengol.
