
Chennai: The Zambia National Day celebrations were hosted by the Honorary Consul of Republic of Zambia here Friday.
Honorary Consul N Sukumar, in his welcome address, explained about the warm and cordial relations that Zambia and India enjoy based on a firm foundation of mutual trust and respect. The two countries established diplomatic relations in 1964. However, relations between Zambia and India can be traced back to pre-Independence days, he said.
Deputy High Commissioner Sikapale Chinzewe, Nkandu Chinzewe and Sukumar welcomed the guests and the diplomatic community who were in large attendance to meet and greet them on the occasion of the national day, a press release said.
Chief advisor V Murali proposed the vote of thanks.
