It is going to be the pride of Kannada film industry as the most anticipated movie of the Sandalwood this year KGF – Chapter 1 (Kolar Gold Fields) is not just a magnum opus but also the first large-scale flick from the State to be released in five Indian languages.

Trailers of all five versions of the first part of the movie series were launched at a grand event here in Bengaluru.

Speaking to News Today in the sidelines of the event, the filmmaker Prashanth Neel said, “This is like a dream come true and is the product of over 1,000 days of hard work.”

The movie has Kannada superstar Yash in the lead along with Srinidhi Shetty, who is making her debut.

‘As the name suggests, this will be set inside Kolar Gold Fields. We have shown the other side of KGF that is not really known to the rest of the world,’ said Prashanth.

So, will it be a record of the lifestyle of KGF? ‘No,’ says the director who elaborates, ‘This is a fictional story blend with some true incidents that happened in KGF in the late 1970’s.

The story of the hero and the Gold Fields both start at the same point and take different routes. At one point the hero will have to step into the place known for slavery and from there the plots unite.”

For a period movie like this, Prashanth said that he did never-ending research works.

“Our screenplay started to evolve as our narration demanded a lot of real facts. For an instance, the major part of the story will be happening in the year 1978, which is the year when gold prices saw the highest rates in history. So what kind of an impact this would be creating on the people in the gold fields will be discussed, but in a raw action thriller narrative,” he added.

Earlier when Yash spoke at the event, he said, “I have spent almost 700 days for this movie which is roughly two years. Now we are here and I am very proud that the Kannada cinema is reaching a new milestone through our film.”

He also praised the technicians and the filmmaker. “I should say Prashanth is one of the contented filmmakers in the country who is making movies on par with the Hollywood. Hope he does a real Hollywood flick soon. Every technician of this movie have worked in international standards and I have no doubt that KGF will take Sandalwood to places,” Yash said.

The movie is bankrolled by Vijay Kiragandur under his banner Hombale Films. The music of KGF is scored by Ravi Basrur and Bhuvan Gowda has cranked the camera. The Tamil version of the film is released by Vishal Film Factory, by actor-producer Vishal.

Vishal, who who was present during the event said, “This is a big step for Sandalwood and we are happy to be a part of it. VFF has always supported content driven movies and so here we have KGF Chapter-1 which is definitely going to rock the industry.”
