National award winning actress Archana returns to cinema after a big gap with a movie titled ‘Azhiyatha Kolangal 2.’ Remember it is the title of a movie helmed by her mentor Balu Mahendra decades ago.
Directed by M R Bharathy, the movie also features Prajahraj in the role of a writer, Nasser as police officer and Revathy, who champions the cause of women.
Speaking about the film, M R Bharathy, “It is a tribute to Balu Mahendra. There is no duet, action or crass comedy. But two hours of emotional journey that will engage and entertain audience.”
On her part, Archana, said, “Balu Mahendraâs ‘Azhiyatha Kolangal‘ was a highly acclaimed film. However, the similarities end there. Our film is an ode, a tribute to the one film-maker who has been an inspiration for all of us. The story revolves around the lives of two women â played by Revathy and me. Prakash Raj also plays a pivotal role. It is a film about women, for women. It is a story about emotions, sensibilities and relationships. Balu Mahendra would have been proud of this film had he been amidst us.”
