Chennai: A youngster died in a road mishap at Poonamallee after he was knocked down by a mini van this morning.
According to the police, Nithin Kumar (18) who worked as a mechanic had gone to drop his sister to school on his two-wheeler at 8 am.
After leaving her at school he was riding on Kamarajar Salai, Nazarathpet, when a van coming from the opposite direction rammed against him.
He was thrown to the ground in the impact and suffered head injuries. He died on the spot. The van driver fled the spot, police said. Nithin was a resident of Varadarajpuram, Nazrethpet.
Poonamallee Traffic investigation department has registered a case. His body was sent to a government hospital for post mortem.
