Chennai: Film personalities have always come forward to contribute their mite whenever natural disasters struck the State in the past.

Ever since the days of MGR and Sivaji, they have made it a point to extend their help in cash and kind.

This time around, after Gaja cyclone devastation, film stars have done the same.

Remember Tamil stars even contributed for the relief of Kerala after the recent floods there?

For Gaja cyclone relief, Rajinikanth donated Rs 50 lakh worth relief materials and instructed his Rajinikanth Makkal Mandram to distribute them directly to the cyclone-hit areas. The trucks with goods will be sent from the actor-owned Raghavendra Kalyana Mandapam in the city as per the Mandram’s tweet.

Subashkaran of Lyca Production, who is bankrolling 2.0 starring Rajinikanth, contributed Rs 1.01 crore towards Gaja relief.

Actor-brothers Suriya and Karthi have contributed towards the relief measures for people in the delta and coastal districts of Tamilnadu. Sivakumar’s family, including Sivakumar, Suriya, Jyothika and Karthi, has donated Rs 50 lakh for the cause.

Vijay Sethupathi sent Rs 25 lakh worth essential commodities and goods as immediate relief.

Actor Vijay has deposited funds, ranging from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 4.5 lakh, in the bank accounts of Vijay Makkal Iyakkam heads located in the delta region. He has instructed the fans club members to visit the affected areas and help the needy.

Actor-music composer G V Prakash immediately sent relief materials in two trucks to the cyclone-affected areas.

Sivakarthikeyan, besides contributing Rs 10 lakh towards Tamilnadu Chief Minister Relief Fund, sent Rs 10 lakh worth relief materials to the cyclone-affected people.

Lyricist Vairamuthu has contributed Rs 5 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
