Chennai: Close on the heels of producers K E Gnanavel Raja, P L Thenappan and ‘Sathya Jyothi’ Thyagarajan stepping down from their respective positions in the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC), actors RK Suresh and Udaya have resigned from the posts of executive committee members of the organisation.
Both Udhaya and Suresh apparently chose to take the decision as they alleged that Vishal, the head of the association, has been acting with bias towards low-budget films.
Remember both of them were staunch supporters of Vishal and campaigned vigorously for him during Nadigar Sangam and Producers Council elections.
They allege that as the president of TFPC, Vishal did not help them in the release of their films ‘Billa Pandi‘ and ‘Utharavu Maharaja‘.
“When big budget films hit the screens, small-budget films suffer the most without getting enough theatres. Vishal promised that he would sort this out, but he hasn’t,” they say.
They have also said that Vishal has taken several decisions without consulting the executive members.
Udhaya recently released his production venture ‘Utharavu Maharaja’ in which he played the lead role. Suresh’s ‘Billa Pandi’ hit the screens along with Vijay’s ‘Sarkar‘ and bit the dust.
