Chennai: A month-long Bharathiar Vizha titled ‘Bharathi Ula’ organised by Uratha Sindhanai Writers Association commenced on Wednesday.
The inaugural event was held at Bharathi Matriculation School, Tiruchi.
The festival will feature 31 events in 15 cities across Tamilnadu, including Chennai and Bengaluru and Hyderabad, a press release said.
Addressing the media here, film director S P Muthuraman and Uratha Sindhanai secretary Udhayam Ram said, “To propagate Bharathiar thoughts to the next generation, we are organising the fourth year festival titled Bharathi Ula. Around 26 programmes will be held in schools and colleges. The event is being conducted especially for students.”
A special oratorical competition on the subject ‘Bharathiar thoughts’ will be conducted and singing contest of Bharathiar songs will be held. Prizes will be distributed to the winners.
