Chennai: The Integral Coach Factory (ICF) today reached yet another milestone as it rolled out the first set of Tejas coaches at its Furnishing Division here.
The factory manufactured 23 Tejas coaches after the Railway Board decided to allot these coaches for the Northern Railway division.
The Tejas include 18 air-conditioned chair cars, two air-conditioned executive chair cars and three power cars.
Another interesting amenities that has been added is, below the hand rest of the seats, fold-able snack trays have been set up, there is a USB charging point behind every seat, CCTVs are installed both inside the compartments and at the entrance and even FRP modular toilets with bio-vacuum system.
Without compromising on the aesthetics, the Tejas coaches manufactured by ICF have normal sized seats with audio visual display units fixed behind every seat.
The coaches have also been equipped by features that were added in Train 18.
Just like the Shatabdi coaches, Tejas has a seating capacity of 78 passengers in each of the normal air-conditioned chair cars.
They are arranged as a 3+2 seating row. The executive class air-conditioned chair cars can accommodate 56 passengers and they are designed in 2+2 seating row.
