Chennai: Actor and founder of Makkal Needhi Maiam political party, Kamal Haasan, is now conducting a survey of the cyclone-hit areas of Nagapattinam.
He is right now at Akkaraipettai of the district.
Kamal was among the first persons to send relief materials to the Gaja-hit regions of the delta districts. He also personally supervised the distribution of the stuff.
Now he is assessing the damage caused by the severe cyclonic storm in Nagapattinam that bore the brunt of Gaja on the night of 15 November.
Kamal had stated that going by the number of people staying in relief camps, the number of houses that were lost in the cyclone must be more. He says there is a mismatch between the government figures and the actual situation on the ground.
Also, he thinks the compensation announced by the government for the various losses incurred by the people of the delta districts is inadequate.
