S Sruuthi, a class 11 student of Padma Seshadri School and longtime resident of Bagirathi Ammal Street, is to be conferred with ‘Kalai Ilavani’ award from the State government for her excellence in the field of theatre.
A press release said, Sruuthi who began her career at the age of three, went on to play different roles in Tamil plays produced by Nataka Kavalar RS Manohar NxGS, T Nagar. She also excels in few other formats of fine arts like vocal, Bharatanatyam, apart from oratorical skills.

Speaking to this paper, she says, “My parents, Shivvprasadh and Rama Shivvprasadh are my sources of strength. My mother teaches me the clear pronunciation of the dialogues at every play.”
Sruuthi who has won various prizes at inter-school cultural activities, sports and academics, notes, “I am indebted to my school for giving me a good platform for arts and encouraging me to participate in different events.”
“My most memorable performance was when I played the role of YGP amma at a play sometime ago, and was appreciated by her”, she points out.
So what is her aim? “My wish is to learn all formats of fine arts and perform all over the world.”
“Also, I have plans to impart my knowledge and experience to others after sometime, said the youngster who is pursuing the Commerce stream.
