Chennai: The team at News Today does not restrict itself to just news: in fact, we celebrate everything happening from sports to Navarathi by releasing special editions.

From 2004, as many as 10 special editions have been published annually. This has placed us better in terms of branding and client relations.

The editions have been unique in terms of content, layout and themes. The newspaper has been bringing out regular annual supplements on education called ‘Mentor‘ and on health called ‘Capsule‘ and a special edition called ‘Light and Sound‘ for Deeepavali and ‘Festival Pot‘ on the occasion of Pongal.

When there is an important event, that means a special page or pages are reserved for it. Our team of reporters and photographers go all out to bring the latest updates to the editing table.
Special coverage was given during natural disasters which includes the tsunami in 2004, unprecedented floods in 2015 and Cyclone Vardah (2016). All these events were given detailed full-page coverage.

The 2015 flood coverage of News Today had reports from several localities and were in such great detail that city-based author N Meera Raghavendra Rao incorporated the articles in her book on it and credited the paper for it.

Also, the death of two political stalwarts – Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and DMK supremo M Karunanidhi – were covered with pages of reportage – ground reports and features. Columns on several aspects of their lives and political career were covered.

In the past, the team had also put together a 50-page supplement on Kumbakonam Mahamaham festival, apart from regularly publishing special editions on Kanchi Sankaracharya and Kanchi Jayendra Saraswathi on their anniversaries and other special days.

Apart from the 24-page special coverage for sports, the Margazhi concerts and artistes are covered with wide reporatge on a daily basis through the season.

‘News Today‘ has also released two books with concerts and events happening during Margazhi.
Special pages have been released about Lion’s Club, Rotary Club, and LIC. It is these special issues that add value to the daily paper that News Today is.
