Motorists plying at the junction of Wheatcrofts Road and Sivaganga Main Road, are facing trouble every day due to numerous reasons.
“Recently, the road was dug up due to Metrowater work. Although this got completed more than four weeks ago, the stretch has only been temporarily covered,” says Thamizhamudhan, who travels frequently in the route.
According to Joel, another motorist, “After the said civic work, the road is completely damaged and is now prone to skidding. Those driving are getting hurt.”
“We primarily use this way to get to the Sterling Road or Loyola College. But due to heavy traffic, especially during peak hours, it becomes difficult to commute. With rains lashing across the city over the past few days, I believe it will delay the works further. But the Corporation should take immediate action in re-laying this stretch as it is one of the busiest roads in the city,” he adds.
Mahadevan, who resides in Chetpet, has another complaint regarding this place. “There are no proper street lights. After dusk, it becomes extremely dark. It would be good if effective lighting is introduced.”
