Chennai: CCTV and alarm facility are kept at ATMs as security measure to prevent robbery. But what happens when these gadgets themselves are stolen?
The Anna Salai police are trying to crack one such incident which took place at an ATM belonging to Canara Bank at Peter’s Road, Royapettah.
It took place midnight and the ATM kiosk did not have a security guard. A police source said, “An unidentified gang tampered the alarm wire. The miscreants decamped with a battery and a DVD player.”
It is said the incident came to the notice of officials and police much later. The police have not yet got a full picture of the turn of events. “The ATM is frequented by a lot of people and we have not got any leads as yet,” police said.
