Chennai: Forest Department has requested the people in and around Sanamaavu forest range at Hosur to be cautious as more than 25 elephants have camped in the area. People in the Aazhiyalam, Ramapuram, Podur, Paathaketta and Kukkalpalli have been asked to be safe.
Meanwhile, Vinayaga, a single bull which was captured by the forest department officials in Periya Thadagam area on 18 December was released into the Mudhumalai forest region.
“A radio collar with GPS has been attached to the pachyderm which will make it easier to spot. The jumbo which was captured after being tranqualisied in fine now and is going about its routine work,” an official said and added that necessary measures will be taken to ensure that the elephant does not enter villages.
