Chennai: MDMK founder and general secretary Vaiko has raised his voice against the Union Home Ministry order giving investigating agencies sweeping powers to intercept and monitor data on any computer in the country.
The new Home Ministry order was put out Thursday. Ten Central agencies have been equipped with powers of “interception, monitoring and decryption of any information generated, transmitted, received or stored in any computer”, according to the order signed by Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba.
Slamming the granting of sky-high powers to the investigating agencies, Vaiko demanded that the order be recalled.
Yesterday, Parliament was paralysed by Opposition parties who protested against this latest order of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
In Tamilnadu, PMK leader Ramadoss had also lodged a strong protest against the order.
