Chennai: With few more days to go for New Year’s eve, the city Police Commissioner, A K Viswanathan held a meeting with five-star hotel owners at his office in Vepery this morning.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners of police and nearly 50 hoteliers. Viswanathan gave the hotel owners a number of rules to be followed regarding the timing of parties, bar and safety measures to be adopted within the hotel premises.
He said that the all celebrations and parties must conclude at 1 am. He also specified that bars must close on time.
Apart from this, he asked the hotels to fix CCTV facility at areas where the parties, events and other revelleries take place.
Another guideline is to have a security check of all the guests for safety precautions. The top officer asked the hotels to seek for assistance of women police at events where women in large numbers attend.
The hotels have been asked to close the swimming pools, if the hotel cannot close them, then they can have security guards to keep visitors away from the pools.
The party venues are not supposed to be held near a pool and organisers have been asked not to build a stage over the pool.
