Chennai: In a move to curtail PWD employees from taking unnecessary holidays, Principal Secretary S K Prabhakar has allegedly issued a circular with a few conditions for the workers to avail medical leave.
The circular said 10 days leave can be availed for rabies and plague diseases and for small pox and chicken pox seven days leave can be availed.
A PWD employee said the circular states that those who take leave should get the leave form signed from Corporation health official and another certificate from district health official.
It is said the circular was issued after receiving several complaints from people about the lack of progress in works due to the absence of the employees.
Though a few employees are not happy about the circular, people have welcomed the move as they feel that their work will get done without much delay.
