Chennai: The police foiled an armed attack bid on the outskirts of the city by arresting three history-sheeters. They also seized a gun and bullets from them.
According to the police, Surya, known as Rowdy Surya (31) from Nerkundram, his associates Muthukumar (31) from Sivaganga and Rajasekar (25) from MGR Nagar at Selaiyur were arrested from their hideout in an undisclosed location in Kanchipuram district.
Police seized a Skoda car, a country pistol and bullets from the trio. The Peerkankaranai police said that recently they had received a complaint from a person claiming that the gang issued death threats to him.
Police also said the men were on their wanted list as they were absconding after jumping bail. The prime accused Surya has 26 cases against him including several robberies and seven murders. The other two are also murder accused. The men are now in police custody and a team of officials is conducting further inquiries.
