Ace cinematographer Tirru is all praise for Rajinikanth. Having worked in Petta, the National award winning cameraman, says, “He is a complete professional and an amazing actor. He completed the 125 days schedule in 98 days.”
“Having worked with Karthik subbaraj in Mercury, I know about him tastes and preferences well. When he came up to me and said that he will be directing Rajinikanth for Petta, I had no second thoughts and immediately accepted the offer.”
Produced by Sun Picures, the movie also stars Simran, Trisha, Vijay Sethupathi, Nawazzudin Siddiqui, Bobby Simha among others. Music is by Anirudh.
Remember a decade ago, Tirru was entrusted with an opportunity to be part of Rajini starrer Enthiran. However he could not take it. He says, “With Petta, my dream has come true.”
Interestingly, when Petta audio was launched in a gala manner in the city recently, Tirru could not grace the occasion, as he was busy with his previous commitments.
Sources say that Rajinikanth plays a hostel warden in a college and the story starts from his relationship with the students and then takes off from there to what happens in different situations.
Karthik Subbaraj in a recent interview said, “Petta will definitely bring back his mass appeal. Kaala and Kabali are both good films but the fans probably missed his larger than life mass appeal. It film will bring that back. I’m also sure it comes with good, strong content. The mass appeal won’t overshadow the content.”
Speaking about sharing screen with Rajinikanth, Trisha, said, “For years, I’ve been asked when I will work with Rajinikanth. Honestly, this question has bothered me. It’s time to finally shut all those people up as I acted in Petta. I feel my career has come full circle.”
