The lake at Periyar Salai near Ambattur needs compound wall, say residents. Because there is no wall, there is the possibility of motorists falling into the lake that spans one acre, they say.

Motorists stated that a wire fence would make a huge difference at a place where the roads are narrow as well.

Residents also stated that authorities must take steps to clean the waterbody and desilt it the coming summer. “Had they done it last year, the lake would have had water by now. However, it is filled with garbage. Authorities need to fine people who litter at the lake,” said Mala, a resident.
