Chennai: Vastram (sarees, veshtis, and pavadai pieces) given as donation to the Ashtalakshmi temple here by devotees, were picked up in large numbers during the auction that began 16 January and concludes tomorrow (20 January).
The four-day auction is taking place within the temple premises and draws a lot of devotees.
The public auction is being conducted from 10 am til 1 pm and in the evening, from 4 to 7.
The price of a saree starts at Rs 100 and if one can lay one’s hands on a beautiful saree for this price, it would be a steal, feel the devotees who thronged the auction venue.
