Wildlife census begins at Sathyamangalam forest


The annual wildlife census began in Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve Forest Friday. This will continue for six days till 23 January.

Census is taken twice a year in these regions, one before the rains and another after. Now the census is taken after the rainy season.

A total of 230 officials split into 46 groups with five members each will do the census in Sathyamangalam, Bhavani Sagar, T N Paalayam, Thalamalai, Aasanoor, Kermalam and Thalavaadi. Census will be carried out based on the animal footprints and faeces.
