Chennai: Around 540 cyclists between the age group of 10 to 60 participated in the fuel conservation awareness rally organised by IndianOil Sunday as a part of Saksham 2019, a month long mass awareness campaign for fuel conservation. The rally is organised to emphasise the masses on the need of cycling for better health, environment and fuel conservation.

A press release said Avadi District Collector Mageswari Ravikumar flagged off the cycle rally in the presence of IndianOil southern region, executive director (regional service) S Senthil Kumar, state retail head for Tamilnadu V Gopalkrishnan, general manager(Lubes) R Udhaykumar, south zone general manager (corporate communications) Sabitha Natraj and GM (RS), P Kumaravel.

Addressing the participants, Mageswari said “Walking/cycling, using public transport, car pooling, mindful usage of energy efficient equipments can add in a big way in fuel conservation. Such measures will also have supplementary benefits like improvement in health and would reduce the traffic in roads”.

In his address, Senthil Kumar said, “This campaign is aimed at showing the way forward for enhancing conservation capabilities of people and help them understand the need, issues and solutions for conservation and effective utilisation of petroleum products and also to give out the message that collective participation is the key to conservation.”
