Chennai: Two women have been arrested by police for selling alcohol illegally and beyond the stipulated government time. According to the police, the duo identified as Victoria Thandapani (35) and Mala Saravanan (33) were illegally selling 180ml bottles at Eight Street,
Gandhi Nagar, Triplicane Pallavan Salai.

At 1.45 am, based on a tip off two women police Nagajyothi and Karpagavalli arrested Victoria and Mala. The duo are neighbours and live in Gandhi Nagar. Police seized 250 Express bottles. The arrest was made by the Prohibition Enforcement Wing (PEW).

A police source said the women were regular offenders. They sell the bottles for Rs 150, against the actual cost Rs 105 after 10 pm on a regular
basis. They had stacked up bottles to sell them on 26 January.
