Chennai: In a major boost to Indian Railways, a software called ‘eDrishti’ developed by the Centre for Railway Information System (CRIS) will help the officials to monitor the entire railway network.

According to sources, the software will help officials to track the movement of trains and its earnings live.

Minister of Railways, Piyush Goyal will also have the ability to monitor the rail network with the help of this software, offering him the capability to check freight and passenger earnings, freight loading and unloading, punctuality of trains, passenger grievances and other vital details.

Base kitchens operated by Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will also be connected to the software.

The Railway Ministry said the updates related to major projects will be sent through the software in real-time, aiming to make policy and decision-making much quicker. They also noted that the software will help to track the status of reserved and unreserved passengers traveling in train.
