For residents of Sai Ganesh Apartments in First Main Road, Chrompet, civic problems are just a way of life. Right from litter thrown at random places, to living in surroundings plagued with rodents and other pests, their issues are one too many.
Speaking on this, a resident, Mahalakshmi Buvan, said, “We have been experiencing unhygienic conditions due to the road being strewn with litter and plastic bags. We also face dog menace with a pack of canines posing threat to us and the regular road users. The matter was taken up with Sanitary Officers and Registrar of Pallavaram Municipality in September and November 2018. But no remedial action has been taken yet.”
“Super senior citizens, convalescent persons, infants, and others who live in our apartments are getting frequently sick and are disturbed by barking dogs at night. Also, there is only one dustbin for this whole street. The problem get worse on weekends when no garbage collection takes place for two to three days together,” she added.
When Pallavaram Municipality was contacted, an official assured of speedy action.
