Bengaluru: Union minister Ananth Kumar Hegde courted a slew of controversies since Sunday, after he remarked that the hand that touches a Hindu girl’s body should not be there.

Later, on Monday, he targeted Karnataka Congress president Dinesh Gundu Rao and called him the guy who ran behind a Muslim lady.

Slamming Hegde for his comments on Sunday, Gundu Rao tweeted, “Wht are ur achievements after becoming a Union Minister or as MP? Wht are ur contributions for Karnatakas development? All I can say for sure, its deplorable tht such people have become ministers & have managed to get elected as MPs.”

And to this, Hedge tweeted, “I shall definitely answer this guy “@dineshgrao’s queries, before which could he please reveal himself as to who he is along with his achievements? I only know him as a guy who ran behind a Muslim lady.”

Rao replied by tweeting that it is sad to see Anant Kumar stoop to such low levels as to bring in personal issues and said it was because of his lack of culture. He hasn’t learnt from the Hindu scriptures. He still has time and can try and become more dignified.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi also slammed Hegde for his remarks about Rao’s wife. He said that it was unfit to be a Union minister and he has to be sacked.

Karnataka Home Minister M B Patil, told reporters at Mangaluru that Hegde had the habit of making such remarks to incite communal passions and that he does not deserve to sit in Parliament as he has no regard for Parliament or the Constitution.
