Chennai: Various shrines in T Nagar and West Mambalam are conducting Thirukkural competitions for children of different ages.
Dharmapura Atheena Samaya Prachara Nilayam, North Usman Road, will conduct a contest on chanting Thirukkural, on 23 February from 9.30 am in its premises.
Speaking on this, Tamil scholar Vijayalakshmi who teaches at the centre said, We have sent communication to different schools in the area and requested them to send children to participate. The competition will be based on different ages and chapters will be given accordingly.

Similarly, another forum, Madras Kali Bari, Umapathy Street Extension, West Mambalam, organised Thirukkural chanting competition for children of different ages in its premises, on 20 January.
A press release said, students from schools such as Ramakrishna Mission School, Jawahar Vidyalaya Senior Secondary School, Sarada Vidyalaya, and other institutions, took part in the event.
Winners of each category will be given prizes on 3 February at the anniversary celebrations in the temple, said an office- bearer of Madras Kali Bari.
