With summer around the corner, water scarcity is looming large. While it is difficult for humans to withstand the heat, the plight of birds and animals is worse.
Realising this, a few residents have come together and started an initiative of providing water to fellow-beings.
The project titled ‘Water for Voiceless’, has members keeping bowls of water in various locations in and around Selaiyur, tending to the needs of animals and birds.
The team even has its own WhatsApp group, through which they connect and expand.
Speaking to News Today, Sandra, a volunteer, said, “People willing to spread awareness and a message of kindness to all nooks and corners of cities, can join this group and place free water bowls,” she said.
She further said anyone who can maintain clean drinking water can collect the bowls from any of the volunteers/ distributors and place them in the outdoors for thirsty and needy animals.
“Many kind and generous people even donate for the group to keep up the supply, based on new demands for the bowls. People who have collected these bowls and placed them at accessible points, feel a sense of happiness and peace when they actually see animals and birds drinking from them,” she added.
