Coimbatore: A flag mast of the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) party was found lying on the ground, raising tension amongst party workers on Monday near here.
This comes after the MDMK on Sunday demonstrated with black flags against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Tirupur.
The party chief Vaiko had slammed Modi for not visiting the areas affected by Gaja cyclone in the state. There was even a minor clash between the MDMK cadres and Hindu outfits during the demonstration. A BJP woman activist sustained injuries.
The local unit of the party suspected the BJP behind the vandalising of the flag and filed a police complaint yesterday.
The police have begun investigations and examination of CCTV footage to trace the perpetrators.
