Chennai: DMK president M K Stalin on Monday flayed Prime Minister Modi for not playing the ‘Tamizh Thai Vaazhthu’ or the national anthem during his recent visits to Madurai and Tirupur.
It has been a tradition to sing the Tamil invocation song at the beginning and the national anthem at the end of any government function in the State.
Modi had laid the foundation stone for AIIMS in Madurai on 27 January and other projects in Tirupur on Sunday, and during both the visit he had not followed the practice, charged Stalin.
At the BJP rally, Modi had addressed the gathering as ‘Sahodara’ and ‘sahodarigaley’ and even recited the ‘Thirukkural. All this was done to deceive the people, said the DMK chief.
He further urged the people to support his party in the upcoming Lok Sabha election and that polls for the 21 vacant seats in the State are also expected to be held.
