According to reports, Modi was supposed to visit land’s end 19 February. But, says BJP State president Tamilisai Soundararajan that the visit has been postponed to March.

The Prime Minister will formally dedicate the four-lane national highway connecting Kanyakumari with Kashmir on the day.

Modi will also inaugurate two flyovers built at Marthandam and Parvathipuram at a cost of Rs 314 crore, according to early reports. Work on the Marthandam flyover, running to 2,678 metres, began in 2016, and construction on the other flyover, with a total length of 1,409 metres, began in 2017.

The flyovers are meant to decongest the national highway from Kanyakumari to Thiruvananthapuram.

The Prime Minister was in Tirupur Sunday (10 February) to inaugurate several schemes. He also flagged off the last leg of Chennai Metro Phase-I on the same day through video-conference from Tirupur, along with Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami.

He is scheduled to visit Kanyakumari next.

This being election year, Modi’s visits to the State have increased.
