Chennai: Preethi and Winston’s love story is a perfect millennial one. They shared the same college bus and a Facebook friend request brought them close. “I got to know through my friends that he was interested in me from the first year, though I wasn’t. But things turned upside down when at the end of the third year we connected via Facebook,” says Preethi.
“When I saw her board the last stop at Arumbakkam, I noticed how she wore her hair in a ponytail, which she still does. I was someone who used to fall asleep as soon as I boarded the bus, but I’d make sure to st
ay awake just to see her sit in front of me,” says Winston.
Their love blossomed at a time when there were was a limit of 100 free SMSs per day. “Our mobiles didn’t support Whatsapp so our conversations evolved from messages to phone calls. It would go on till late in the night,” recalls Preethi. Like any love story, theirs too had its fair share of ups and downs but they stood by each other through it all.
“Our wedding too was a roller coaster ride since we both belonged to different religions. Finally, after 7 years, we tied the knot in December!” says Preethi.
