Jaganmohan promises to allot Rs 15,000 crore for BC welfare

Eluru: YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy yesterday promised an annual budgetary provision of Rs 15,000 crore along with many other welfare measures to the backward classes, if his party was voted to power in the coming elections.

Speaking at BC Garjana meeting, Reddy said Rs 75,000 would be given to BC women above the age of 45 as a one-time monetary grant under the YSR Cheyuta scheme. If voted to power, the YSRC, would constitute separate corporations for the upliftment of all the 139 backward communities, Reddy promised.

A budgetary provision of Rs 15,000 crore per annum for the welfare of the backward classes would be given as a sub-plan, he assured.

“BCs are not backward castes. They are the guardians of our country’s glorious culture. They are the backbone class of the nation” he said.

He further blamed that Chandrababu Naidu merely used the BCs as a votebank and their lives were not even his last priority. He further alleged that Naidu had promised to allot Rs 10,000 crore per annum for BC’s welfare in 2014, but did not fulfil even a single promise.
