Chennai: Tamilnadu Legislative Assembly Secretary K Srinivasan today announced that the Hosur constituency falls vacant following the arrest of Sports Minister P Balakrishna Reddy.
With this, the total number of vacant constituencies in the State now stand at 21, he said.
Balakrishna Reddy was arrested in connection with a 1998 case for damaging public properties and was sentenced for three years of imprisonment.
In view of the conviction, the Minister stood automatically disqualified as MLA as per the provision governing statutory disqualification of the Representation of People Act.
