Hari Singh

Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh and Haryana Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma paid their respects to jawan Hari Singh who laid down his life yesterday in an encounter in Pinglan area of Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir.

Draped in the tricolour, his body was brought to his native village Rajgarh, where his last rites were performed with full military honours.

A large number of people paid their last respects to the 26-year-old jawan. He is survived by his mother, wife, and a 10-month-old son Among those who paid their last respects to the slain soldier included senior officers from the Army and civil administration, Hari Singh was given a gun salute by the army, which sounded the last post.

Villagers gathered at the site demanded that the government should give a befitting reply to Pakistan as it was also clear who was behind the attack on CRPF convoy in Kashmir.

In the fierce 16-hour encounter in Pulwama yesterday, an Army major and four security forces personnel lost their lives. Three Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists were killed in it.
