Chennai: Following All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) announcing the approval process for 10,495 existing technical institutions / deemed universities in the country and for new upcoming institutions for the academic year 2019-20, Anna University, for its part, has started examining the applied colleges for required facilities and infrastructure.
Anna University, for the first time this year, conducted the affiliation process completely online. The university developed a web application ‘Affiliation Monitoring System’ for this and started inviting applications from existing colleges seeking affiliation for both existing as well as additional courses namely BE, B Tech, B Arch, ME, M Tech, M Arch, MBA and MCA programmes.
Colleges will be able to admit students only after getting the affiliation from the university which will be completed by 15 May.
In view of the above process, teams consisting of officials from both Anna University as well as AICTE started visiting the applied colleges to verify whether they fulfill all the criteria for the approval which includes better general infrastructure, class rooms, labs, playground, gym, rest room, hostel, canteen, mess, drinking water, equipment, power supply, design, etc., The officials will also get in touch with students and get their feedback. The university has also asked colleges to disclose all details to the officials during their visit.
