CPI(M) flays BJP over Shah’s remarks on the Pulwama attack

Hyderabad: Condemning BJP chief Amit Shah’s remarks over the Pulwama attack, CPI (M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury yesterday accused the BJP of politicising the incident.

On 14 February, 40 CRPF personnel were killed in a deadly terror attack, for which the Jish-e-Mohammed claimed responsibility.

Condemning the attack, Yechury said the CPI(M) extended full support to the government to take all necessary measures to protect the interests of the nation and the security of the armed forces battling against terrorism.

He, however, slammed Amit Shah for saying that the sacrifice of the jawans will not go in vain and that the anti-national forces will be taught a lesson, because this was not Congress but a BJP government.

He said such politicisation by the ruling party was very unfortunate and asked why this happened during their rule. He further said that CPI(M) appeals to the people to see through the game of the BJP and to remain calm as it was a work of anti-national elements.

Flaying Prime Minister Narendra Modi for skipping an all-party meeting called by the NDA government following the terror attack, Yechury said Modi was campaigning elsewhere at the time.

“Let us not fall into the trap of the terrorists who want to pit one section of people against another section and divide our country in terms of people fighting each other inside India,” he said raising the issue of attacks on Kashmiri students being reported from various educational centres across the nation in the aftermath of the attack.
