Several roads in Chennai locality were dug for various works including the construction of underground drainage. Residents have been constantly complaining about the delay in the re-laying of the new roads.
However, the Bharathamatha Street has two contrasting stories to tell. The 2 km stretch connecting Tambaram Poondibazar and Tambaram Sanatorium was dug near the Jaigopal Garodia school.
This made is difficult and dangerous for the students to use the stretch which also led to traffic chaos during peak hours. Though residents have been requesting the authorities to relay the road near the school at the earliest, a new road has been laid on the stretch near Poondibazar.
This stretch is fairly new and does not need relaying. This has puzzled the residents and motorists about what exactly is happening on the stretch.
“We cannot figure out why an already existing good road is getting a new topping and the stretch which actually needs attention is left out. We request the officials to make sure that stretch near Jaigopal Garodia School is relaid at the earliest,” said Manickam, a resident.
Efforts to reach Tambaram Municipality officials failed.
