Chennai: Superstar Rajinikanth, who recently announced that he would not be contesting the 2019 general elections, is set to meet DMDK founder-leader Vijayakanth at his Saligramam residence today.
According to reports, the meeting is slated to happen this morning.
Vijayakanth’s DMDK is being wooed by the BJP and AIADMK to join their ‘mega alliance’ but so far the party has been playing hard to get. Sources suggest that the DMDK has been demanding that it be given one seat more than the PMK which has been allotted seven seats in the AIADMK alliance.
Yesterday, in a surprise move, former TNCC chief S Thirunavukkarasar called on Vijayakanth at his Saligramam residence. He refused to say whether he discussed the alliance issue but merely said Vijayakanth was an old friend and he had gone to meet him to enquire after his health.
But the timing of the meeting when the DMK-Congress alliance is also cobbling up a front, led to loud speculations if they were trying to rope in the DMDK.
