
Chennai: A man lodged a police complaint stating that he lost gold and diamond jewellery he was carrying for his sister’s marriage in Rajasthan Friday.
The police said Rahul Jain (34), a resident of Millers Road, Kilpauk, had set aside 570 grams of gold, 120 grams of diamond worth Rs 25 lakh for his sister’s marriage to be conducted in Rajasthan.
The theft came to light only after he reached his town in Rajasthan. He told the police that his maid had seen him packing the jewellery in a suitcase. He has given her name and address as the main suspect.
The Kilpauk police are conducting an inquiry with her.
