Chennai: More than 5,000 police personnel have been deployed to maintain vigil as President Ram Nath Kovind arrives on a two-day visit today to Coimbatore.
Kovind will take part in two official programmes namely awarding of President’s Colours to two Indian Air Force units in a ceremonial parade to be held at Air Force Station, Sulur, and the Shivaratri observance to be held at Isha Yoga Centre on 4 March.
The Coimbatore City Police will deploy between 1,500 and 2,000 police personnel to create the security cover for the President within the city limits.
The President will leave for Air Force Station, Sulur, via road on Monday morning. After the event at Sulur, he will return to the Circuit House.
Ramn Nath Kovind is scheduled to travel to Isha Yoga via chopper from Coimbatore airport where the Shivaratri observance will be held from 6 pm on Monday to 6 am on Tuesday.
“The President will also participate in Pancha Bhuta Aradhana at Dhyanalinga, a ritual done to cleanse the five elements (earth, fire, water, wind and the limitless space) and establish the well-being of the body and the mind and can shape the body to become a stepping stone for one’s ultimate well-being,” a press release from Isha Yoga said.
